Forthcoming Meetings

Autumn & Winter Programme 2011-12

All our indoor meetings (except our Christmas Party) are held in Blackburn Central Library, Town Hall Street, Blackburn. Meetings normally start at 7.30, however members start arriving around 7 to discuss various  things ! Feel free to get there early - even better why not take the opportunity to use the facilities in the Community History Library on the 2nd floor - staff will be pleased to help you.

Meetings are normally in the Abram Room on the first floor of the Central Library. The library has an entrance on Town Hall Street and also on Northgate. There is also a lift at each entrance so no need to walk up the stairs.

Dr Alan Crosby a professional speaker and author from Preston talks to us about the Preston Guild
Tuesday February 28th Alan Davies
Alan Davies from Tyldesley gives us a talk entiltles "Women and children in the mines"
Tuesday March 27th Dr A McAllister
Dr McAllister from Wigan entertains us with the History of the Band of Hope in the North West
Tuesday April 24th Steve Williams
Steve Williams from Brindle returns to remind us of Blackburn Rovers - The Brian Douglas era.
 
Summer Programme

Summer 2012 (preliminary)


Now that the nights are lighter (and the weather warmer ?) we turn our normal style of meeting away from guest speakers in Blackburn Central Library and embark on a series of travels far and wide.

Once again our secretaries have arranged a varied and interesting selection of visits. 
All of these visits require booking and paying for in advance with Frances (01254 247469) or Pat (01254 813102). Refreshments haven't been included because of the extra cost.

Visit to the Queen's Lancashire Regiment Museum at Fulwood Barracks, Preston

Stephen Williams guides us on a walk around the village of Brindle
